PodSpider has a directory and podcasting software that comes with a free test drive. The free version lets you subscribe to five podcasts while the premium is unlimited. Its home page contains the directory with over 25,000 international podcasts sorted into 25 themes and 300 categories. Also available is the list of top podcasts. You can view the site in English, German or French.
The support page lends a hand with information on where to go for help. The best place to go is the support forum, but there are other options including the Help that comes with the software
Search or browse the directory, which shows the number of podcasts for each category. Select a theme or category to browse a summary of podcasts and click Details to get a pop up window with more information about the selected podcast. PodSpider provides a rich resource for finding podcasts.
Vital Podcasts ***DEAD
Vital Podcasts features a directory of over 900 podcasts along with top 10 lists, a featured podcast, and podcasting news. The section lists a variety of top podcasts including 50 most popular and by category.
Use the search box to search by keyword to click on Top Searches to see what are the most popular search keywords. The section called PodcastCast Shuffle takes you to another Web site called Podcast Shuffle (also in this directory).
Select a category to see its subcategory list along with the number of podcasts for each. The podcast list page simply lists the title, date added and a brief summary. Get more details by clicking on the title.

The PodLounge
The PodLounge is a podcasting community with over 6500 podcast feeds and forums.
Find new feeds by using the search tool, browsing random podcasts, checking out the pick of the day or the featured podcast, viewing the most recent podcast and most popular podcast listings, or selecting a category of interest.
The feed category pages show each feed in its own box and a links to view its information or to subscribe to its feed. The feed information page lists the number of podcasts in the feed along with links to subscribe, listen and download.

Podcast Mania ***DEAD
Podcast Mania is a directory of over 100 podcasts. On its home page is Hank's Pick, which is the site's recommended and featured podcast. Or check out the newest feeds, most played podcasts, featured podcasts or random podcasts.
Clicking All Feeds does just that, show all of its feeds with the title, link to its site and a short description when there is one. The title link from anywhere on the Web site opens the podcast in a media player instead of a detailed page. Podcasts don't have detailed pages.

Podcast Pup
Podcast Pup is a podcast search engine that lasts the top ten podcasts from PodcastAlley.com and podcasting-related news from an external source. Its search engine can search for all entered words, any words or iTunes. With random search, enter a word and click Random Search to get one result.
Each entry that appears on the search results page comes with links to its site and feed, a short description, average rating and number of hits. Click Rate Link to vote on the show's quality. No registration is required to vote, but it could lead to skewed results as a podcaster could vote on his own podcast.
Click the podcast title to see its detailed page completed with episodes and streaming podcasts that you can listen right there while you're on the Web site. You can quickly view recently submitted podcasts by clicking on Recently Submitted PodCast Sites.
