  • Replay Media Guide

    Replay Media Guide is a database of shows, stations and podcasts. Integrated into the guide are streaming media recording tools for capturing video and audio. Podcasts are categorized and validated daily. You can search for podcasts by name, description, show notes and even audio in episodes.

    It's a community-oriented site where registration is free and allows you to get recommendations from the community by finding people with similar interests. You can also subscribe to podcasts listed under another member or set up your own custom feed of favorite shows that others can use. You can listen to podcasts from within the guide. You can also rate and comment on podcasts.

    The guide lists the top rated podcasts and the last 100 added podcasts. Registered users can add a podcast by clicking on the + icon. From any listing. click i to get info about the podcast and it includes a list of its episodes, which you can play, download or add to favorites. Much of the categories are sorted into top-level categories: music, talk, reading service, language and a couple of others.

    ViCasting is a podcast directory and search engine with over 9000 podcast feeds. The site highlights a featured podcast feed along with newly added feeds. Browse the podcast feeds and podcasts by category or use the search tool to search for feeds or podcasts.

    You can also discover new podcasts by checking out the featured podcasts. You can try to get your podcast to appear in the featured list by emailing ViCasting to get a review of your podcast. Features show up on a first come first server basis. the site will not feature a podcast that is found to have adult content.

    Each podcast listing displays its title, a brief summary and a link to get more details. The detailed page lists the podcasts in which you can play from within the Web browser (it opens a new window). If you register, you can add the podcast feed to your favorites. It's a simple, no frills directory that makes it easy to find what you need.


  • podOmatic

    podOmatic is a resource for creating, finding, sending and listening to podcasts and videocasts. Its services include Web-based recording tools, syndication wizard, audience interaction tools, promotion tools and listener statistics.

    The directory contains tags. The larger the tag, the more popular it is. You can also search podcasts from this page. The search results page can be downloaded to your MP3 player and they also display related results. Top podcasts show the most popular podcasts for the day and for overall. You can also browse popular podcasts by category by selecting it from the drop-down list.

    When you click a thumbnail from the list, it takes you to that podcast's home page. podOmatic has forums for discussing podcasting and getting help with the site. Registration is required to take advantage of its other features as explained in the FAQ.

    podlog is an international podcast and weblog directory that's also available in French, German, Swedish and Polish. All of its entries sorted into categories and podcasts, sites and blogs are identified by an icon. Head phones represent a podcast, movie project represents a video podcast, Earth represents a Web site and book represents a blog.

    Results pages can be started by date or clicks and you can show all entries or limit it to podcast, blog or Web site entries only. The search tool also gives you the option of limiting the type of directory and the language. Every entry lists the title, links to site and feed, type of resource, language, update frequency and a brief summary. Entries do not have detailed pages of their own, so it's quick and easy to scan the listings.

    If you switch from English to International directory, the listings contain all entries no matter the language. If you limit it to the English directory, then you see only English listings. Podlog lists five recommendations along with a link to a detailed review of each recommendation. Podlog is an easy site to use and it's helpful to control which kind of directory you want to view.


  • Genwi is a media guide for finding and subscribing to Web content. The site gathers information on available media syndicated on the internet for providing a listing service where users can find content including blogs, podcasts, videos and others. Find content by browsing categories or searching for keywords.

    The home page and other pages contain images. Click the images to learn more about the podcast along with its subcategories, tags, episode list and reviews. A nice feature you find with each entry is recommended channels, which lists other podcasts that might interest you from the same genre.

    You don't have to register to discover new podcasts, but registration is needed if you want to submit feeds, personalize your page and subscribe to podcasts through Genwi.
